DC Officiants is committed to outstanding service, and that includes answering any question you may have! Below you’ll find the answers to our most frequently asked questions, and please don’t hesitate to contact us if there’s anything else you want to ask!
How Far In Advance Do We Need To Reserve An Officiant?
April through October are busy wedding months in Washington, DC and, as such, DC Officiants tends to book up very quickly. If you have a particular wedding date in mind, we recommend contacting us as soon as possible to ensure we have availability – many of our clients hire us six to 12 months prior to the wedding day. We’ll always accommodate last-minute requests whenever possible, but please contact us as soon as you know you need an officiant so we have the best chances of working with you!
What Are Your Rates?
We structure our pricing based on several factors, including the date, time and location of the wedding, and whether it’s a full-service wedding or an elopement. We’ll gladly provide a complete price quote when you contact us, and rest assured we’ll always offer the best possible price.
Can We Get a Discount?
We understand that many wedding vendors offer special discounts to certain individuals or groups. However, because we’re committed to offering the most economical pricing that we can to all clients, we’re unable to extend any additional discounts.
Can You Put a Hold On The Date?
We want you to make an informed decision in hiring a service as important as your wedding officiant, so once we’ve matched you with one of our DC Officiants, we’ll gladly hold your date for 10 days. This gives you time to speak directly with your officiant, sign your online contract, and submit your payment.
Is There a Deposit?
For full-scale weddings, we take a 50% deposit with the signed contract, and collect the balance 30 days prior to the wedding. (If you prefer to pay in full when you hire us, you’re welcome to do so; however, we don’t require it!) We do require full payment at signing for elopement ceremonies, which are handled through our sister company DC Elopements.
Can I Pay By Credit Card?
Credit cards are actually the only form of payment we take! You’ll be able to submit your payment and sign your contract online – our convenient paperless booking process couldn’t be simpler.
Can We Customize Our Ceremony?
DC Officiants is known for our unique, personalized wedding ceremonies for full-scale wedding clients. Your officiant will work with you to tailor every detail to your wishes. For elopements, we offer you a variety of simple ceremony scripts to choose from, so you can find one that perfectly reflects your tastes. More details on elopement services can be found on our DC Elopements page.
Can You Do An Interfaith Wedding?
Of course – we do them all the time! Many of our couples come from religious backgrounds, and we pride ourselves on creating ceremonies that incorporate both faiths and traditions! We also have a variety of resources available to make planning an interfaith ceremony easier.
Will You Perform a Ceremony That Is Religious (Or Non-Religious)?
Absolutely. Whatever your religion, DC Officiants can incorporate it into your ceremony. We can also perform ceremonies that are more spiritual than religious, and ceremonies that are completely secular. The most important thing to us is that your wedding ceremony is absolutely perfect for you!
Do You Perform LGBT Weddings?
DC Officiants supports marriage equality for all couples, and we perform wedding ceremonies for any couple who wishes to marry in the District of Columbia and beyond!
What Happens If I Need To Change My Plans?
We understand that things happen, and sometimes a change of date, time or location is necessary. In that event, while we can’t guarantee our availability, we’ll do as much as we can to accommodate you. Please be sure to contact us right away if your plans do change, so that we can collaborate on a solution that serves everyone.
Do You Come To The Wedding Rehearsal?
We generally suggest having a friend or family member lead your rehearsal, and we offer a free Wedding Rehearsal Guide as a resource. Wedding rehearsals don’t include practicing the ceremony itself, only your entrance and exit, which is why we usually don’t attend. If it’s important to you to have the officiant there, and we have availability, we can provide you with a separate contract for this service, at an additional fee.
If We’re Already Legally Married, Can You Still Do a Ceremony For Us?
This request comes up often (especially with military couples), and we’re happy to serve couples who are already married but still want the experience of a wedding ceremony in front of their family and friends. As long as you’ve complied with local marriage laws and can verify this with a copy of your marriage certificate, we’d love to be part of your celebration!
How Do We Book DC Officiants?
DC Officiants makes it easy! All you need to do is complete our contact form, and we’ll provide you with a price quote for your date and the steps to hiring one of our officiants.
